I Love To Listen Day

Listening is Important

This poem was written by the founder of this special day, Ms. Marva Shand McIntosh:

The importance of listening cannot be understated.

It is the key to all effective communication and learning.

We listen more than we speak, read and write combined.

Today is International I Love to Listen Day. Please give your children the gift of listening, before they go to bed tonight.

  1. Listening is a great way to learn. Lia will be outside and runs in saying, ma listen, do you hear the birds? She loves to listen to different things as well has people.

    • Martha, you all are doing such a great job with Lia. She’s on her way to being a wonderful success in school and life.

  2. Dominique Walton Brooks says:

I didn’t know it was listening day. This is a great thing to remind our children about! Thanks for letting me know!

  3. This is a beautiful poem and sentiment. Over the years, I’ve learned to be a better listener. I have to still remind myself not to interrupt people. But, listening with empathy and an open mind and heart is always the goal.
